Luke Shaves His Way Into 2012
Coolangatta-based company Australian Tourist Park Management (ATPM) is known as a leader in its field, but one thing has been holding them back – a 70’s ABBA-style haircut!
Financial controller Luke Porter has sported the same hairstyle for decades and today shaved it off in the name of charity.
Luke enlisted the help of Reanna from Coolangatta hair salon Beeba to rally his work mates and raise money for World’s Greatest Shave.
“I turn 40 this year and World’s Greatest Shave was on my list of ‘40 things to do before you turn 40’,” said Luke.
“It raises money for a really good cause and we all get to have a bit of a laugh along the way.”

The Gravity 12 Hour Mountain Bike Enduro brought more than 1000 people to Bright lastweekend (4 February), participating in the thrilling event and enjoying the ambience of the town.
The event was hosted by the Bright Holiday Park for the first time this year, with event organisers, Finish Line Events, saying they will be back bigger and better next year.
“The staging of the Bicycle Superstore Gravity 12 Hour out of the Bright Holiday Park proved a real winner with the competitors,” said Event Director Iain Moore.
“Having the event in such a central location meant that families could easily attend, enjoy the mountain bike activity, camp, swim and access all that Bright has to offer very easily, while the riders focused on getting through the 12 hours of cycling.” Mr Moore said that the clean facilities and welcoming attitude of management were a far cry from what the competitors were used to.
“The feedback from competitors suggests a bigger and better event at Bright next year.”
“We are excited to be involved with a great event that brings many people to this special town,” said Managing Director Steve Billett.
“It’s wonderful to work together as a community to promote tourism and encourage visitation. Many of the competitors have given us feedback that they will back before next year’s race, just to enjoy the park and the town, which is a great result.”

25 000 barramundi fingerlings were released into Lake Monduran last week as part of Lake Monduran Holiday Park‟s „Sponsor a Baby Barra‟ program.
The program was conceived and operated by park manager Rob Howell to ensure Lake Monduran remains Queensland‟s premier barramundi fishing
destination.
“We wanted to add to the current restocking program run by DPI [Department Primary Industries] and MASA [Monduran Anglers and Stocking Association] and thanks to generous sponsors we have been able to achieve that,” said Mr Howell.
In the last two months, the combined programs have added more than 100 000 fingerlings to the lake.
“Fingerlings reach legal size in 12 to 15 months, so we certainly expect a bumper fishing season in 2013,” said Mr Howell.
However there is no need to wait till then to enjoy the great fishing at Lake Monduran. Mr Howell said some regular guests are catching 15 to 20 barramundi a day ranging in size from 50 to 80 cm.
