As you start your journey to Cairns, be prepared to enjoy one of the most scenic trips on the Australian coastline. Stop and explore Ingham (Little Italy), before heading into Cardwell for lunch.
Also worth a look is Tully (the wettest town in Queensland) and Innisfail. You have the option just outside Innisfail to take a detour to the Atherton Tablelands, which presents amazing photo opportunities.
Must-sees are Lake Barrine (volcanic rainforest), Millaa Millaa Falls and the town of Atherton. You will then pass through Kuranda before entering Cairns.
