Depart Brisbane and head north on the M1 Motorway for around thirty minutes. Take the Kilcoy exit and head out on the D'Agular Highway, passing through the town of Woodford before arriving at the Lake Somerset Holiday Park.
A range of accommodation choices are on offer, from the new two-bedroom lakeside cabins to powered or unpowered camping sites. Dinner recommendations are the local pub for sure!
Check what is biting - our park manager can offer suggestions and baits and may help with locations! You will find Lake Somerset to be highly productive and consistent for big bass and golden perch.
Or throw your crab pot in for some red claw. Use your boat (there are three boats ramps), or just throw a line from the water’s edge.
The lake also caters for those who may not enjoy fishing – try your hand at wakeboarding, water-skiing or one of the many other water sports available.
If you are travelling over school holidays please ensure you checkout out our FREE school holiday activities.
Time to bid farewell to Lake Somerset and head to your next adventure at Lake Monduran. On your way out, ask the park managers about the local markets – markets are on every weekend at either Kilcoy, Woodford or Esk.
Lake Monduran is just 300 kilometres north of Lake Somerset and the drive presents some great scenery - so have the video or camera ready.
You will pass through the townships of Nanango, Goomeri, Biggenden and Gin Gin. Lunch enroute is your choice.
On arrival at Lake Monduran Holiday Park, you will be updated on the lake, park facilities and features and sunset and sunrise times.
Your accommodation choices include powered and unpowered sites, cabins and holiday homes.
Sit back and enjoy the fresh air. You are now in the heart of the Wild Scotsman country, between Childers and Miriamvale and one hour west of Bundaberg.
Lake Monduran is a great holiday destination, particularly for those who enjoy big barramundi fishing, boating and kayaking in a family and pet friendly* environment.
Do as much or as little as you like. Ask about the FREE school holiday activities, boat hire or fishing charters. *conditions apply
